Project
For a course in publication design at John Abbott College, I produced a 26-page annual report for World Vision.
Process
The project began with a branding board in which I adopted a green colour scheme to emphasize the report’s focus on green, sustainable development. Effra and Semplicita Pro were chosen for bold headings, and Proxima soft was chosen as an easy to read font for smaller text.
Grids were used to arrange consistency of layout across the document. The two-column layout produces a comfortable reading experience. Chapter headings start at 2/3s down the page, creating dynamic and aesthetically pleasing spreads that make use of negative space and provide plenty of room to include images.
Photographs feature people who have benefited from the charity’s work over the past year and sustainable technologies that have been built.
Large pull-quotes, icons, and coloured side-panels help to break up the space and create variation across the various sections.
